Fifty-five School Financial Officers from the 13 states served by SASBO took part in the 2012 SASBO Leadership Summit in Biloxi, Mississippi.

MASBO membership has grown to over 600 members with the majority of our members attending the conference.  Please take this opportunity to network with each other as well as our guest speakers.  There are very few opportunities to personally meet our support teams from the various state agencies that come to share their expertise.  And we certainly could not have a  conference of this caliber without our vendor sponsorship.  Please make sure that you visit the vendors throughout the conference and show them your appreciation.

We also have some exciting news to share about the future of MASBO and how it will benefit our members.

Student achievement is Halliwell’s priority, and she ensures the district’s teachers have the resources they need to give every student a high quality education. Through innovative cost-saving initiatives and sound budgeting, she was able to allocate more than $1 million to technology advances over the past three years, including interactive whiteboards and handheld tablets.

Halliwell will be presented with the Distinguished Professional Eagle Award at the ASBO International Annual Meeting and Expo in Seattle, WA, on September 17, 2011. As an Eagle Award recipient, she will receive a $2,500 college scholarship to present to a high school student, a crystal Eagle Award, and an invitation to attend the ASBO International Eagle Institute next summer.
