The Mississippi Association of School Business Officials (MASBO) is pleased to announce the establishment of a comprehensive professional development program for school financial operations to be known as the MASBO Academy. MASBO facilitates these training opportunities. We are excited about these offerings and seek to provide beneficial resources for our state.
The MASBO Academy will consist of 10 monthly one-day sessions covering a full range of topics in a defined sequence to provide training during the times of the year when certain functions are performed. Various aspects of school financial operations will be divided among the 10 monthly sessions. The training will include topic-specific help for experienced staff, as well as provide a series of regular training sessions for new personnel.
It is our aim to address both fundamental practices, as well as current updates and changes as they occur. We encourage experienced staff to see these opportunities as a chance to observe best practices and receive updates. We ask new personnel to see this series of sessions as fundamental guides from some of our state’s experts. We request Superintendents to see these assets as a means of assuring district staff are performing necessary statutory and financial management functions for the benefit of our students.
